Flying into Hanoi was a rough ride as Haima washed out once hitting land, although the wind gusts were not overly strong. It has been raining non stop for 2 days now with localised flooding throughout the city

Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower

Vietnam's tallest building is now the Hanoi Landmark Tower, built in the new urban area to the west of central Hanoi. The 70 storey tower is at the back, while the two residential buildings at the front are 47 stories. Apparently one of these towers will house the Intercontinental Hotel, and the other serviced apartments. A super sized shopping mall is planned to join all three towers on the lower levels. Construction is due for completion at the end of the year

I love the propaganda posters around town, generally not so much for the messages but more for the art. They always promote socialist ideals or working together to create prosperity and harmony for all. This one is promoting voting in the elections held last month.

June Theme Day - Under Construction

The many tight and tiny alley ways around Hanoi make it difficult to undertake construction or renovation projects. These guys have to haul bricks in by hand, made all the more difficult by other vehicles trying to get past them.
