September Theme Day - Open Air Market

Open markets are a part of Vietnamese life. All across the country open markets cater for all kinds of food stuffs, including fruit and vegetables, live fish and seafood, and up until recently, live poultry. The wet markets and unrefrigerated animal products are the areas that generally seem to amaze foreigners the most.

Yes, the unrefrigerated foods that I've seen in other countries always give me pause. Should I or shouldn't I?

a meat market is a great addition to theme day. I like the diversity in markets today

I can just imagine the reaction of non-Asians to wet markets like this.

Sigh, I don't know about Vietnam, but in the Philippines, our hot climate and pollution in big cities do make markets like this quite unsafe and unhygienic. I can no longer buy fish and meat from market stalls open to the elements unless it's right beside the sea or a slaughter house.

Imminent danger also is that you probably have no idea what kind of meat you may get there since they are unmarked.
